A FLOOD

It was the worst rainy weather that I had seen. The skies remained overcast as sheets of rain poured down without stopping. In the evenings, the rain usually accompanied by blinding flashes of lightning and deafening peals of thunder. Most of the residents in my area remained confined indoors. Apart from people scurrying to and from work and school, there was little outdoor activity.
After about a few days of incessant rain, the swollen river burst its banks and unleashed its fury on the residents. Many of the residents ere caught off-guard. As the floodwaters rose, the water started gushing into their homes. The flood swept away everything in path such as rubbish bins and small pots of plants. Cars parked along the roads were half-submerged.

Everyone tried to shift their things to higher level but their efforts were in vain. There was not enough time as the flood water was moving fast. Everyone could only save themselves. Many residents managed to climb up to the rooftop. Rescue boats were nowhere in sight. Some people were soaking wet while some managed to wait under an umbrella.

Soon, the rescue boats came and picked up the residents to a flood relief centre which crowded with people. After about a day of heavy downpour, the rains finally showed signs of abating. The overcast skies finally cleared. So, everyone started to return to their homes.

In the event of flood, we need to take precautions to stay safe. People could easily get drowned in a flood. So, it is important not to walk or wade through flood waters. We can also avoid from electrocution by stay away from power lines and electrical wires.

WAYS TO PROTECT WILDLIFE IN MALAYSIA

A very good morning to my dear principle, my beloved teachers and all my fellow friends. Today, I am going to give a talk entitled " Ways To Protect Wildlife In Malaysia ".

One of the things that we can do is to refrain from buying items made from animals body parts. If there is no demand for these items, the manufacturers will stop producing them. This will subsequently reduce and stop unnecessary killings of wildlife altogether.

Besides that, the authorities must impose stricter laws on those who commit this heinous crime. Severe punishment such as a hefty fine, a long jail sentence or caning may deter people from committing such crimes.

Moreover, the government should create awareness among the general public about the importance of protecting wildlife, Campaigns, talks and seminars are some of the things that can be done in order to achieve this.

Finally, I would like to urge everyone to take a moment and think about what will happen if we do not put a stop to this crime. Many animals will soon disappear if we do not do something about it fast. Thank you.

A SCENE AT A NIGHT MARKET

A night market will be set up every Friday from 6pm to 10pm along the road in front of a row of the shop houses near my house. This has become a regular activity for me and my family to visit the night market every Friday evening after our dinner.

Last Friday,as usual, me and my family pay a visit to the night market that near to our house. It was not completely dark yet but the market has been crowded with shoppers. There were stall selling fresh products such as vegetables, fruits, meats, seafoods and others. Besides, there were also stall that sell clothes, toys, shoes, foods and all sorts of goods. Most of the products sold here were always dirt cheap compare with those in supermarket or department store.

When reaching the vegetables and fruits stall, my mum bought some vegetables and fruits because they seem so fresh and delicious. The clothes sold here were well made and beautiful. The prize are also very reasonable and affordable. I could not resist and buy a few clothes with good bargains.

When we walk along the row of food stalls, the aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air. The mouthwatering dishes such as satey, asam laksa and a dizzying array / variety of lawker 'kuih' and snacks made us feel hungry. Although we had eaten our dinner, we still bought some of them home as our supper

By 10pm , the shoppers started to dwindle and the vendors and stall owners began to pack their staff. The bustling area became quiet and back to normal. It was a wonderful and ecstatic outing for us.

A MISCHIEF BOY

Kelvin is my neighbour. He is a mischief and naughty boy. He is always a troublemaker who likes to create many problems and trouble. His mother had always advised him but the advice fallen on deaf ear.

Its was a beautiful day. A gentle breeze was blowing and the sun was on the horizon. Kelvin played with his catapult as usual at the garden in front of his house while I was watering the plants at the moment. A bolt out of the blue, Kelvin saw a beautiful bird resting on one of the branches of the tree in the garden. Without wasting any second, he quickly aimed his catapult to the bird.

However the shot missed to shoot the bird. The frighten bird immediately flew away. Unfortunately, his shot hit the beehive which was on the nearby branch. The angry bees flew out and chased after Kelvin. Kelvin was shocked and shouted loudly when he saw a swam of bees flew out of the beehive towards him. He ran as fast as he could to escape.

Luckily Kelvin's mother heard his screaming at that time. She ran out of the house with a thick blanket to shoo the swam of bees. Without hesitation, I quickly sprayed the tape water toward the bees in order to chase them away. Fortunately, the bees had flew away from Kelvin.

Sadly, Kelvin was bitten by the bees on his face and legs. He was howling in pain at the moment. His mother quickly took him to the nearby clinic to get some treatments. Kelvin had learned his lesson in that incident and promised not to be naughty again.
